On the 5th of April, Netflix launched “Our Planet”, a documentary realized in collaboration with “WWF” and “Silverback Films”. This series takes us on an immersive journey in the wildlife, makes us dream and makes us cry (well, it did for me personally) …
From the first episode, we discover the beauty and the fragility of our nature. We are confronted to the impact of human activity on our environment. It’s a wake-up call that makes us realize that we must act urgently.
It’s not a secret. Today, human activity is the cause of climate change and is destroying the planet. But this term “climate change” is not well understood by everyone. Indeed, it’s not just about the rise of temperatures, but about a phenomenon that causes the disruption of our biodiversity.
It is for this reason that Z&MA takes a more serious tone and give you information about how this phenomenon works and its impact.
THE INDUSTRY AND HUMAN ACTIVITY
The atmosphere is composed of naturals gas including CO2, that regulates the temperature. This natural phenomenon is called the “greenhouse effect”. Because of our activity, the quantity of greenhouse gas has considerably increased. As a result: disruption of wildlife, temperatures unusually high and low, sea-level rise and more frequent natural disasters.
The increase of gas in the atmosphere is due to:
- Intensive farming, fishing and agriculture
- Deforestation: forests are essential because they capture CO2
- Petroleum operations
- Garbage dumps
- Fertilizer and chemicals used for agriculture
One of the biggest problems related to global warming is ice melting. The glaciers play an extremely important role in the regulation of the water temperature and the temperature of the planet. In simple words, ice reflects the sun in the atmosphere, allowing to cool or to maintain the temperature of the planet. With the ice melting, the heat is absorbed by the ground, resulting in global warming. It’s a vicious circle. If the ice continues to melt at this speed, in 5000 years, there will be no more.
Everything on earth, whether it’s animals, vegetation, the ocean or the poles, has a very important role for the health of the ecosystem. We are currently destroying and changing everything… The series “Our Planet” shows the impact of this environmental disaster on the marine and land life. The deeply moving voice of David Attenborough, brings us to sumptuous wild places and explains how everything changed because of climate change.
Resources are more and more limited; the biodiversity is less and less rich. We must act otherwise it’s the entire humanity that will perish.
All concerned, we can, even on a small scale, make a difference. Here are some suggestions:
1) Eat less meat and privilege a plant-based diet,
2) Buy fish and meat from fair trade fishing and farming,
3) Turn to a Green Energy supplier,
4) Buy less clothes and choose sustainable brands or second-hand clothes,
5) Recycle your trash,
6) Last but not least, use Z&MAs products. All our production process was thought to minimize our environmental footprint. For instance, we don’t use secondary packages, the ink we use are free of solvents and the water we use during production is recycled.
We are the last generation that can act, let’s be united!
